dracula's brides! a wee game for you.

ok, as we all know hammer had some stunning women in their stable of beauties. if at any point from the 50's too the 80's, who would be your perfect choice too play dracula's 3 brides ? the only rule is, they have too be actresses who appeared in a hammer production, be it film or the tv shows. <i made the game up, so my rules HA>
so i'll start off with my choice of what i think would be the 3 perfect brides for dracula :-
1) ingrid pitt
2) caroline munro
3) valerie leon
now i think a good lucy and mina would be :-
''lucy'' - stephanie beacham
''mina'' - yvonne monlaur <brides of dracula>
now only other rule is, they mustn't have had obvious breast implants <see 'twins of evil' <cough>gerta<cough> for reasons why>.
i really look forward too seeing what other hammer fans choices would be.

interesting choice. but not so sure about sarah douglas being cast as 'mina'. could see sarah as a 'lucy' aye, but not a 'mina'. besides, i wasn't aware of sarah having been in a hammer horror movie. i know she played one of dracula's wives in the 1973 version of dracula <played by jack palance>, but not of her appearing in a hammer movie though. please let me know if i'm wrong on that, because i would love too see sarah in a hammer horror. anyways, what would your choices of actresses from the hammer stable of beauties be too play draculas 3 brides ?

reply

She was in The People That Time Forgot.

OMG! so she was. forgot all about those films. still see sarah as a bride or as lucy cos she's already a bad girl. mina is a typical boring but good girl 'yawn'.
ok on your choice of who too play mina <sarah douglas> & lucy <caroline munro>. now, who would you pick for the 3 brides of dracula ?

reply

because she never played a vampire girl before. It would be interesting.

I was never really interested in the brides, though, but Valerie Leon, Martine Beswick, and Rachel Welch would be nice.

I would love to hear Sarah's and Caroline's English accents, though. Both characters should have equal amounts of screen time so Munro fans aren't disappointed (like me).

aye. she's def got the look of a vamp about her. would love too see the 1973 jack palance version where sarah plays one of his brides. and your choice for draculas 3 brides would be............ ?

not many folk are interested in the 3 brides of dracula. thats why i thought the 3 brides should be given a bigger 'showing' in their roles.
and 'OOOH'@ your choices. i'm well impressed with the adding of rachel welch too the counts hareem. as with sarah, completely forgot all about her being in a hammer production. and again, i forgot all about the stunning martine beswick. 'dr.jekyll&sister hyde' is one of the few hammer films i've not watched for years.
so your choice for dracuals 3 brides are :-
1) valerie leon
2) martine beswick
3) rachel welch
and your choices for lucy and mina are :-
'lucy' - caroline munro
'mina' - sarah douglas
wow. great choice i must say mate.
i see so far that between us, that valerie and caroline have made it onto both our lists. whats the betting they will probably make it onto the majority of posters lists too ? lol

Besides, Mina is really an elegant role, isn't it? Sarah, with her elegant Engligh accent and grace, would be wonderful for the role.

definately. but i think she'd be more fun as 'lucy'. but then, i've always seen 'mina' as the boring one, nice, but boring.

If you've seen Dracula: Dead and Loving It (one of my favorite Dracula movies) Mina turns from an elegant woman to a sexy half-vampire. The same could apply with Sarah, who turns from a Lady Charlotte role (from People That Time Forgot) to an Ursa one, as a sadistic half-vampire.

Caroline is absolutely gorgeous as well, but her looks are more otherworldy and exotic rather than elegant like Sarah. I would love to see Caroline play Queen Guinevere in an early 70s King Arthur film, but I cannot really see her in Victorian England wearing a corset (other than the "Auntie Friction" ad, that was an embarrassing joke).
