The movie does end before the book but nothing of real substance is lost.

I just watched the movie for the first time last night (super late, I know), but I hope I find the book soon. That's cool that the author had a spot in the movie. I love when that happens!
Have you read/watched Mystic River? I don't think I've finished the book, but that one was almost word-for-word the same. I was impressed.
