Drew's death
To me it's clear cut that Drew committed suicide because he couldn't deal with the guilt of what they had done

Did he go on to say what he thought happened then?
To me it doesn't make sense for him to not have committed suicide. He looked like he launched himself off the boat and why else did he decide to not wear his vest? Did he give God the option to decide if he should be saved from the river or killed for his sins?

Gotta love that ambiguity
shareHe was too religious to kill himself, so he wore no vest and went fast down the rapids.
shareThat's a good point.
I'd never thought of it that way.
That's always what I assumed, even on first viewing at age twelve.
shareI just re-watched this. I've been through some harry situations in my live, thankfully never killed anyone. But even if I did and in the name of self defense, no matter what the situation, I would never (especially being married and with children) would willingly lunge myself off a canoe onto certain death. Even if single and no kids, heck I value life too much....
I guess this added to the story somewhat, but I don't quite get it personally... I'd have to see a hell of a lot worse in my life for me to stop taking breaths.
he was shot by the hillbilly on the cliff
shareI agree that Drew committed suicide, but I do think that the man on the cliff was the same man that attacked them and was coming back for revenge.
