Scared the hell outta me as a kid!

I guess any film you see during very young, formative years will leave a permanent impression(scar?).
I caught it on tv back when the 'normal' channels used to run these great classic horrors on weekends all the time. I Really miss that! You don't even see these more obscure 60s- 80s horror movies on cable now. There should be a channel Just for them! So glad I have it dvd.
Kinda sad there's such little discussion about it here! This is a must for any vampire fan...'cept for 'Twilight' freaks. Still gives me the creeps, but more fun now & is wonderfully dated!

Fully agree! This is a must for any vampire film fan. Robert Quarry is terrific in this film.

I remember first seeing it back in the early 1980s on Cleveland's late-night Big Chuck and Little John Show, and finally aquired it on dvd a few years ago. Really, a quite entertaining film.

I actually saw this movie in a theater! I was seven years old and it was playing at the neighborhood theater: the Jerry Lewis Theater. How they let an eight and nine year old into this movie is beyond me.

From the opening moments we were memorized by the story and the hot hippy chicks running around. To this day I recall the last closing shots and hero "saving" his girlfriend. We left the theater and were afraid to turn out the lights for months. Jerry Lewis Cinemas: As kids we saw all the Planet of the Apes sequels there!

Agree with Winston that this is an underrated classic. Also a sly commentary on cults and the fact that they can suck the life out of you.

Haha! The hippie chicks *were* pretty, huh?! It's a little sad how many horror films of the past have little effect on today's kids. They've simply been exposed to so much more. I've known plenty of young people who thought The Exorcist was *funny*.

Crazy how you kids got let in to Deathmaster, though! Sure wouldn't fly today.

Similarly, I used to go to see those cheap, low-budget kung fu flicks (all rated R), & after failing to get in on my own, would often stand in front of the theater asking *strange adults* to get me a ticket! Worked a couple of times, too! Jeez....
