Overlooked creepy Classic!
I saw this one myself as a kid watching Creature Features show in the bay area. Definately has a creepy weird vibe.

shareSaw it years ago on the Big Chuck and Little John Show out of Cleveland. I bought it on DVD about a year ago or so, and I just love it. It's a very interesting turn on the genre, and Robert Quarry is superb (I've met him in person, and surprisingly, he is a very funny guy).
I'd recommend Deathmaster to any vampire fan; in fact, I like it better than the Yorga films (especially the sequel).
I remember watching this on Creature Double Feature in Philadelphia in the late 70s, when I was a kid. Brings back a lot of memories. Definitely one of the more creepy films shown back then. Makes me long for the saturday afternoon horror shows.
shareI agree, that it is indeed, overlooked...
Saw this at the cinema or drive-in (can't remember which) in '72, and remember thinking at the time, that it was a bit of strange tale, but eminently watchable.
I agree with other posters, that Robert Quarry stands out in the lead role. There is just NO escaping the piercing stare of those steel-grey eyes!
I wasn't a Hippie at the time (being in the Army) but a few of my fiends and acquaintances were, and I thought the scenes of them grooving and doing their stoned-out dancing were quite acceptable, as was the (these days) boring music...
The other characters were (to me) plastic and one-dimensional, and I kept wishing that Pico would get rid of the 'Indian' headband. I also found Monk to be a bit of a bore.... However, some of the chics were hot.
All in all, not a bad movie, along the lines of the 'Count Yorga' tales.
^vv^
The Opener of the Way is waiting....
