Remake Announced - Sherman to Direct

Director Gary Sherman plans to remake his classic, shifting the setting to Chicago and altering some of the characters.

Okay... I hate when they remake good movies, but I have to say this one could work, as Gary Sherman will be remaking his own film. And this isn't Americans meddling. Gary Sherman himself is an American, from Chicago. That's why he would be putting it in Chicago. I'm looking forward to it. Unless he screws it up.

It'll be rubbish - all the current american remakes of classic horror films have been dreadful except for Dawn Of The Dead which was a lot better then the slow-moving and mildly pretentious original!

pretentious ? you gotta be kidding... one of my favourite movie, and for the remake, is it a remake ? no i see nothing except the supermarket environment as a point of convergence. And it wasn't horror, but another stupid action/violence american movie. No interest at all, noted 2/10 on imdb.

Saw Death Line about thirty five years ago when it was on a double bill with the bizarre Mark Lester/Britt Ekland feature Night Hair Child. I've never seen it since but everytime I watch the tube scenes in An American Werewolf... I'm constantly reminded of it. One thing I've never discovered is how come Sherman, a young American came to make his debut film in the UK - was he already based over here in some capacity? Was it partly US financed?

Supernatural perhaps, baloney perhaps not

Okay, first of all, I am an American and I come from Chicago. Second of all, I hate remakes, all remakes, they all suck.

So don't go assuming all Americans want to remake or see remakes. I adore UK films and prefer them set in the UK the way they were originally designed. Same thing with sitcoms. Reality shows are all crap on BOTH sides of the pond, so I don't care about them.

This is due to be broadcast on TCM on Friday night. It's weird enough to intrigue me.

Well, considering this thread started two years ago, I think the remake talk was horse manure - just Mr. Sherman trying to keep his name out there.

C.H.U.D was nothing like this film, but I like C.H.U.D Don't like BUD though. Creep sucked.

"Creep" was quite similar to (though not as good as) "Death Line", though that was a coincidence, and it wasn't meant to be a remake. An intentional remake would, however, add nothing to the value of the original "Death Line" film

Sounds like every generic horror film released since 1974. As I'm getting tired of the final girl cliché I'm glad he hasn't remade it, yet at least, as it'll be a by the books horror and will likely be the version that's remembered.
