Why was this renamed 'Raw Meat' in the US?

The recognised title in the UK is "Death Line" - why the change? "Raw Meat" is like, SOOOOO crass!

Maybe the US wanted a more "cannibal" title.

Obviously the Death Line title is more preferable, but I quite like the Raw Meat title too.I've got the MGM R1 DVD on order, can't wait to see this classic of 70's Brit horror again.I first saw it years back on the BBC during their Halloween horror movie all-nighter.I think they showed Creepshow & Curse of the Werewolf that night as well.

Maybe they should have combined the two: Raw Death?

I think Raw Meat would be a reference to cannibalism?

But to be fair, Death Line is better!
It gives a good touch to people who use the subway in New York ha ha.

I could ask the same question about any other country.

In France, the direct translation is Metro De La Mort, "Underground Death".

In Italy - "Do Not Take That Metro".

In Spain - "Subhuman".

In America, it's Raw Meat. But in any other country (as far as I know), it's Death Line.

Title changes in different markets are commonplace, as occasionally certain studios trademark specific titles and then sit on them, usually to pull out when a script needs a quick title change. These trademarks, of course, vary from country to country.

The AIP logo at the head said it all. Nuthin' but trash talk titles for those boys.
