Unexplained Origin of Andy's Return from the Dead.

I Can't believe that I am the only person to question or mention this in this entire discussion thread, but here goes. how & why exactly did Andy return from the Dead? i can understand how a pitiful mama's boy such as him would not want to break his promise to her that he'd return from Vietnam someday, but there must be more to it than that. i get the feeling that his psychopathic, unhinged nutcase of a Mother must have Dabbled in the Occult & used black magic to somehow keep her son from dying, at least in the conventional sense. am i alone in thinking this?

First, luv Jag U ar! I think the reason for being brought back from the dead didn't matter. It was supposed to be unknown. No occult, no prayers, it just was.

Thanks for the Jet Jaguar Love. :) it still bugs me not knowing what the reason for Andy's return was though. i just ordered the DVD, maybe it will explain it in the audio commentary track. if so, i will fill you in too. Thanks.

Sounds like a plan. I honestly think they had no idea as to why he came back. I think they had no explanation and just ruled with the premise that he came back. You think they could have played done chemical reaction or test on soldiers, but nothing.

I thought the film was actually really good for what it was. I didn't mind not knowing so much because it was entertaining regardless.

New, I actually saw Godzilla vs Megalon in a double feature with The Giant Spider Invasion I believe in the summer of 74. I begged my parents to take me and my brother. The teenagers in the cats next to us were laughing, and as a kid, I took all things Godzilla seriously. Now I can see why they were laughing.

Death Dream follows in the footsteps of Black Christmas, whichever came first, it is clear that the director wanted to keep suspense high and explanations low and even nonexistent in terms of motives, and reasons behind the unknown.

I have no idea. I interpreted the movie as a metaphor about letting go of the past and learning to accept tragedy/death so that's why it was necessary for him to come back and go to his grave in the end. I like that they didn't explain how or why he came back. Sometimes movies explain too much and I prefer a bit of mystery.

well, that was of absolutely NO HELP whatsoever!!! :/

Well, sorry. But I don't think we really need to know. Some things are better left a mystery. 
