Is this the one..........?

Is this the movie that has a murdered body put in behind a wine rack and when someone goes down to the cellar to get some wine sees an eyeball (when a bottle is pulled out)....

reply

Sounds familiar - I also think its the one where a caged rat is burned & forced to eat through one of the victims! OUCH!!
DEAR DEAD DELILAH!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you're not getting the 'burned rat' scene from a film entitled 'Epitaph'?

++++++++++

You're not a loser if you do not play the game.

reply

Hmm, that does sound familiar...maybe I DID get these 2 films confused?
I'll look Epitaph up and we'll see, thanks for the help, sf!

reply

THe rat scene in 'Epitaph' is hilarious. I laughed my ass off over it. :D

reply

Funny you should say that! I read the review on the Epitaph link and the guy said that was the best part too! LOL~ (or most creative death scene!)
It WAS gross, that's fer sure!
I still like the title: "Dear Dead Delilah"!!!!!

reply

Yeah, 'Dear Dead Delilah' is a cool title. It's a shame this film is so obscure. Quite gory for its time. :)

reply

I haven't seen 'Delilah' in 20 years, and I KNOW it can't be on DVD - or is it? But was it really that 'gory'?I forget the 'kill scenes'. I seem to recall they were fighting over her inheritance though.
And I seem to remember an early Hector Elizondo in one of these movies (Epitaph?) - I'll go look to see how early he started his career up.

reply

Ah ha, a little detective work paid off! This is it!
Very similar, plot wise, because it was about bickering family members & pain-in-the-ass in-laws backstabbing each other! haha - I bet this is hard to find also. I must have been renting a ton of movies around this same time, since I seem to have gotten all 3 of these movies confused with each other!

That's an obscure one. I have it but I haven't seen it in years... time to dig that one out. :)

reply

Wow, you have a copy of it? I remembered it once I saw the cover on amazon. No wonder I got it mixed up with the other 2! Tell me if it's gory, I forgot!

reply

Yep, it was released by Vista Home Video way back when... think '86 or so. I think they were an off-shoot of Thorn-EMI as both outfits had the same address.

I'll let you know the 'gore rating' after I see it. :)

Wow, you know some back-distributor info, which is cool.....
Thorn is long-closed, eh? About Diary of the Dead, I'll await your discerning review!!
;)

reply

Well, this film was quite tame. No gore... in fact, this could have easily been a made-for-TV movie. It did have a cool ending though but for the most part it was slow-going. It reminded me of 'The Attic' in a sense... with the revelation that the MIL had all that money and didn't help her daughter and son-in-law and the fact that the MIL treated her SIL like *beep*. Similar thing in 'The Attic' with the father keeping her daughter at home due to his 'disability' until the surprising revelation...

Wow, that movie sounds like a nightmare - I guess that on isn't worth buying, is it? I wonder if it would "spoil" everyone's good time if you mentioned the ending here, w/ warnings, of course?
(I forget!)

reply

I'll just say that Stan had a lil surprise waiting for him in the upstairs bedroom and leave it at that. :)

Well, that helps! Maybe some day I'll run across a copy of it, but I tend to doubt it will ever be released on DVD anytime soon!

reply

Yeah, I doubt this one will come out but you never know. I've seen some really crap movies come out on DVD (think 'Criminally Insane') so nothing really surprises me any more.

reply

Yea, they're releasing all sorts of older Italian cheese from the '60's & '70's on those compilation DVD sets. I have a 50-film DVD set and some were released under several different titles, to confuse the renter/buyer (it's not always for language purposes!).

reply

I think that if this one comes out it will be on one of those sets. Brentwood is well-known for releasing subpar films like this.

reply

Yea, I think it's Brentwood who distributed that 50-Drive in Classic compilation I bought for $18. 12 DVD's with 2-3 movies on each side; it's a novel idea, if only the films were better. There are some decent little finds though, like Savage Weekend, but I'll have to get it out and watch the rest of 'em later.

Whoa... 'Savage Weekend' is on that? Looks like I'll be getting that one... that movie is hilarious! :)

Are we talking about the same film? (I think there are 2 w/ a similar title).
There were some funny parts I think, but some bloody ones too - its the one w/ the 'J F Sebastian' character in Blade Runner....what's his damn name...William Sanderson!! Is this the one yer talking about?

"The Film which you are about to see is an
account of a tragedy that befell a group of 5 youths."

reply

Yeah, William Sanderson. The same nut who was in 'Fight For Your Life'.

reply

Yea, and I have Fight for your Life too!
Of course, he kinda redeemed his career when he did Blade Runner though. And then he was a part of 'Larry and his other brother Larry'! haha -

reply

Sanderson was one sick puppy in 'FFYL'...

Yea, he played a real bumpkin, that's for sure!
He lucked out w/ that Blade Runner role!

The murdered body in the vat of wine is from A CANDLE FOR THE DEVIL aka IT HAPPENED AT NIGHTMARE INN aka NIGHTMARE HOTEL, starring Judy Geeson, a Spanish title about two religious fanatic sisters who take it upon themselves to punish young women they consider sinful. One of the patrons at their hotel becomes ill after discovering an eye on her plate. Just another title familiar from the late 70s-early 80s.
