César's windshield

After César visits David and they fight before he agrees to go with him to see Rosalie at the beach house, they approach César's car only to find the windshield caved in, upon which they take David's car. This is never explained, but is it to imply that David smashed the windshield as payback for César having just smashed his head through a window?
