One Thing This Flick DID Have (SPOILERS)

A good theme song.
I remember watching this film under its alternate title SAVAGE ABDUCTION on a Saturday morning back in the Eighties after renting it from a local video outlet. It didn't make much of an impression on me, aside from -- SPOLIERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! -- the ironic ending, when one of the kidnapped girls escapes, rushes from the house, and runs right into the man whose twisted sexual kinks set the whole plot in motion. Since she doesn't know any of this background info, she believes him to be a good Samartian and allows herself to be led back inside the building, ostensibly to "help" her still-captive friend. I think we all know what must have happened then.

But over the years the theme played at the beginning, end, and at various points throughout the movie has stayed with me. "On the Edge of a Moment" doesn't have much in the way of lyrics (basically that one phrase repeated over and over), but the tune is haunting. I'd like to get a recording of it someday . . . if I can ever find this epic again.

So you see? Even low-budget exploitation flicks can surprise us with a flash of quality once in awhile. The beautiful "Love Can Make You Happy" from the one-hit wonder group Mercy was featured in a Sixties' Lon Chaney auto-racing film, after all. Steve.
