The music

The music in this movie was hilarious. Most parts are supposed to be intense and they start playing that music. I couldn't stop laughing. I know that back then the music was different than it is now, but they should have used music with no words or something.

It's true.
Don't get me wrong, I love the movie, but I enjoy laughing along with it too. When I was six, I got this movie for my birthday. I watch it every year and I memorize so much of it. The music is hilarious. I am trying to find a soundtrack to this movie. One of my favorite songs is the "Rumble Song" and I kid you not, these are some of the lyrics:

"Baseball bats, guns and violence
knives chains and bare-knuckles
We're gonna rumble, gettin' it on"

lol. It is a good movie, and I would like to see it again. But it is fun laughing along with the music. I read the book for a book club I was in and then all of us watched the movie. We couldn't help but laugh every time the music started. After seeing the movie, everyone wanted the soundtrack hehe.

"God loves you, ... God loves Nicky too!"
That did it for me ;-D An inspiring story, but I agree fully that it had its unintentional funny bits. (watched it on a Christian youth camp)

would love to get a copy of this or the soundtrack; i'm 100% sure that the opening scene with the funky drum thing got me into hiphop/kraftwerk; thus planting the seed that sent me down the road of the drug/rave dance thing here in uk. don't think cruz would have intended that.

i saw it late 70s though.

Real late reply, but I've got a copy of the soundtrack and will try getting it up on YouTube soon.
