It seemed almost to me as though the movie was set around the time it was made (1970-ish) instead of the late '50s when it actually occurred. (I suppose this is just my impression- someone in the Bishops gang makes reference to Allah which I thought might have been a bit Black Muslim-ish, and some of the styles of clothing etc. might have been from around then. Not sure how true?)
shareI just finished watching and I am thinking the same thing. It looked way too 70s for me. Maybe it's because of everything from the 70s I have seen so far and I used to play "The Warriors" video-game a lot wherein many different gangs from 70s New York appear.
At times I was drawn in the movie, I would forget that the movie was suppose to take place in the 50s. I have read that this movie was made with a low budget, so perhaps now in the 21st century we perceive it more as a 70s setting instead of a 50s setting.
