THE DUNE ROLLER has been one of my favorite horror stories since I first read it in an Alfred Hitchcock anthology in the 60s. Julian May was the author, then limited to small fiction magazines. In the 40s and 80s, she finally broke into the big time, dominating fantasy paperback lists with her series.
The story was previously filmed as "The Dune Roller" on the 50s SF series TAES OF TOMORROW.
I have no idea why IMDb has the wrong name listed.

Julian May (born 1931) was married in 1953 to T(haddeus) E(ugene) Dikty (1920-1991) hence the credit for Judy Dikty.

Dune Roller was first published in Astounding Science Fiction (December 1951)
