criminally underated

this film should be better known.

"Cisco Pike" is perfect from the first scene to the bleak ending. It really evokes an era and a sentiment that seems foreign in this day and age. Amazing performances and songs by Kris Kristofferson as well. This belongs up there with "Vanishing Point" among time-capsule films that capture the free-wheeling early '70s perfectly. I rarely do this, but I gave this a 10/10.

It would have been a better film if the score didn't suck so hard. Every time that ear splitting guitar groove that passes for score kicks in, I wanted to scream. I liked the film and I'm a big fan of 70s style scores - but this was so poorly composed and worked into the soundtrack, especially during the scene where Hackman is following Kristofferson. The film needed someone like Michael Small to add some tension to the drug dealing scenes.

Kris was country songwriter 2 years in a row, during this period. I have nothing but praise for his music here.
