Joy Bang

Hi!

I was moved to post after reading through the reviews for this film. At least a couple of the reviews state that Joy Bang was a "former porn actress". To my knowledge though, she never acted in porno films (even soft core ones). She made a few low budget films in the early 70's & then did television for a while but, despite her sexy, free-spirited on-screen persona, all of her acting was "legit".

And now back to our regular programming.

In "Play it again Sam" she plays an actress who says that she just finished a film, in which she was the only woman, called "Gang Bang".

Joy Bang always reminded me of Harlie Random.

Given her choice of a name (assuming it was a choice), her having had an "unseemly" background probably seemed like a safe assumption to some.

Badgers? We don't need no stinkin' badgers! But if you could show us something in a nice possum...

It does seem like a safe assumption, but apparently an incorrect one. Regardless, Ms. Band was a delightful presence in early '70s film, and it's always a Joy to see her onscreen.

It says in her bio that "Bang" was her married name, not a stage name.

Wow, that's hilarious if Joy Bang is her real name. Then again, if you want to be an actress, don't want to do porn, and want to be taken seriously, who in their right mind would ever choose that for a stage name?

Because it was the 70's! Not a terribly serious time. I've only seen her in this movie (finally saw it tonight, first time), and she was a joy to watch. Kinda like PJ Soles, who I also loved seeing in movies!
