Some thoughts about this movie.

I thought it was pretty interesting. The "excuse-for-monster-fights" (A.K.A. "plot") was good enough for what it is, and it had some likeable characters. Felt pretty modern, too. Not in filmmaking aspects, I guess, but rather those previously mentioned characters. The protagonist seemed to have come out of the 80s. And he was a Manga artist. Ya. I know Manga isn't new, but it's more popular than ever today, so I guess that helped giving me this feel.

Some real cheesy aspects (even for a Godzilla movie) were apparent here, though, like the "bad guys" being cockroach-like people from another planet. And the talking between the monsters. I did see the original version without the ACTUAL speaking (and rather just noises), but it was still cheesy.

It seemed to be the first Godzilla movie to actually include a real tank, too. That's awesome. And it had some blood being shed!

Godzilla actually swims in this one, too, as opposed to just walking on the bottom of the ocean. That's a good improvement, because that made no sense whatsoever.

Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable experience, and I surely wouldn't mind watching it again.

The fight between Godzilla and Anguirus versus King Ghidorah and Gigan is a classic. Fantastic movie !

Yep, I was glad to see two of my favorite kaiju, Anguirus and Gigan, together in one film. The underdog and the coward!

The action is definitely better than G vs Megalon, the story just barely, but who cares about plot in a late Showa installment? At least there's no short-shorts-wearing, badly-dubbed kid in this one!

The first military footage shot for a Godzilla movie was actually the first film. Several shots of the army firing at Godzilla are actual shots of military training.

I rarely say this about any Godzilla movie, but it's a good film. Admittedly I'm a big G-fan, but even I recognize that other than the first film, the whole Godzilla series is just fun kids' stuff. But this film was actually fairly decent.

Can't believe it's already been 3 years! I was having a personal Godzilla marathon "back then". I believe I had a quite intrusive cold at the time.

Ah, memories. Thanks for replying.

(As a side note, I should comment more on largely unknown movies. It, almost with guarantee, makes for moments like these.)

Sad story. You got a smoke?

Heh, well there's nothing like a good old fashioned Godzilla urban renewal plan for Tokyo. Sit back with something hot to sip on in front of the TV, and let the big-G rip through one office building after another. And if he shoulder throws another monster, like Gigan in this instance, well, that's cool too.

Well said, brother.

Saw this movie in theaters in the late 70s as GODZILLA ON MONSTER ISLAND. Plot? What's that? It had several giant monsters trashing everything and the added bonus of cockroach people. I used to read articles about Godzilla movies and this was regarded as the worst Godzilla movie there was but I loved it then and I still like watching it now. It's lots of fun and moves at a pretty brisk pace too.
