Zombie trickery

This is one of my fav zombie flicks. I always wondered, though:

After Alan sends the dead away the remaining four travel a good distance from the house-and are suddenly attacked out of nowhere.

Did the zombies lure them out? Or did Alan not give them enough time to return to their graves? Or should they have brought Orville with them to show their good intentions?

Any ideas?

The Zombies were clearly waiting in ambush. And later the intelligence of the Zombies was once again confirmed when they all got in the boat. Also at one point they were just chillin and then the humans let their guard down, yeat that was totally on purpose.
