funniest scene?

I personally love Bunuel's bizarre sense of humor.

to me the funniest scene in the film is the end where the inspector just starts matter-of-factly arresting everyone just as they're sitting down to dinner, the scene where the entire army stops by to interrupt dinner, or when Rafael explains that "leftist guerillas are part of Mirandas 'National Mythology'."

I love the scene when the women are at the restaraunt and the lietenant just comes over, sits with them, and tells them about killing his father. Then, when he's done with his story, he just thanks them and leaves! I almost fell out of my seat laughing when he showed up at the dinner later on. :)

reply

I like the bit where the ruthless mobsters kill everyone in the room except Fernando Rey, who has hidden under the table. The gangsters are about to go when Rey reaches up from under the table to take a piece of lamb. Hilarious!

reply

That was hilarious with him grabbing the meat!

reply

Yeah, that was the crescendo of the goofiness for me.

reply

This.

The scene where the investigator arrests everyone is my favorite.

reply

I agree but the dope smoking army officers are a close second

"Well if they bomb their own troops they must have their reasons"

reply

Th funniest line is when one of the characters is mixing martinis and announces to the group somthing to the effect of " sipping a martini is the best way to relax - I read that in a women's magazine."

Where is he at the dinner? I couldn't recognize him!

I couldn't him either. I guess he/she probably made a mistake.
My funniest scene is the dinner on the stage scene. What a embarrassing dream.

reply

I thought that, when the whole regiment shows up and joins them, that he started to tell another. Maybe I'm wrong; it's been awhile since I last saw this.

reply

You're right that one of the men told a dream at the dinner, but I don't think it was the same guy who killed his father.

No, I'm not really vegan. Stop asking.

reply

The biggest laugh for me came following a dream sequence, where Thevenot dreamt that Senechal was dreaming, then wakes up and announces it to his wife.

Include me out

reply

It is the same guy both times.

reply

Rafael taking a last bite of meat under the table before being gunned down. Guess he didn't want to die on an empty stomach.

reply

My funniest scene:

The army guys come to have dinner but then have to retire to tend to the war business...but a young recruit requests the Colonel to let him first recount his dream...it was really hillarious to imagine that amidst all this emergency they did find it appropriate to listen to a soldier's dream...

cheers
Ahmad

reply

ahh thats my funniest part too!

The green army is attacking, we must hurry!!
But first let the recruit tell us this charming dream he had.

hilarious

reply

and also... who can forget those sursicks

"now what are these sursicks you wanted to show me?"
"i don't know and who cares!" as he jumps on her and starts macking all over her. what a great seen

Definitely the funniest laugh-out-loud scene of the movie.

reply

I loved when at the dinner party, everyone keeps on coming up to the ambassador to say another derogatory thing about Miranda, and he keeps making his excuses. Or the scene at the inn, when there is a woman crying over a dead body in the restaurant.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it...

reply

yeah i loved the way they were all picking on that country, especially in the last scene: "i heard there are a lot of nazis in miranda."

Where are you, Mount Everest? Give me some Everest.

reply

Definitely! And then eventually Fernando just loses it and shoots the guy...

Sits in corner counting inconsistencies and Spoiling It For Everyone

reply

i love that...also when the dinner party is being arrested and they grab the young woman and she's like, "get your hands off me! do you enjoy bike riding?" that kills me
it's something to that affect its been a while since i've seen it

reply

When the priest takes the gun an shoots the killer of his parents an after that simply walks away...

reply

"Bread, lettuce, the Key to Dreams..."

reply

Probably when the priest shows up dressed as a gardener.

"What the hell are you running here? A radio station or a rehab clinic?"

reply

When everybody is dissing at Fernando Rey's character at colonel's house! hehehehe and the way he refused all those "false accusations"! That was funny!

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well I have others

reply

"guerillas just 'became the part of our folklore".

reply

when they're all under the table.

reply

For me the funniest scene is when the Priest kills with a shotgun the man responsible for killing the priest´s parents, (gore...), right after he said "Now my son rest in piece in the grace of God", Than Blam! What a shocker!

reply

that scene with the priest killing the confessor was pretty funny.
