Peppermint Patty: symbol of the Pilgrims

I've no idea whether this was intended, but can't you make the case that Peppermint Patty is like the Pilgrims, who came over to the North American continent uninvited and who were graciously received and fed by the Native Americans? Since the thought occurred to me, I can't get it out of my mind.
