Frustratingly Hard to Find Rare Lead by an American Master

I don't think I'm alone in considering Warren Oates one of the very top actors of modern American cinema, and this one is as hard to find as they come. A DVD release would be a dream, but has anyone even encountered this (an MGM) on TCM or any other cable channels in recent years. A paper collector, I have most of the advertising material on this film, but have only ever seen a brief clip from this on the Oates doc/tribute "Warren Oates: Across The Border." It's one of a handful of lead roles for the star, and one that I hope to own and see in the future.

It's showing at the moment on TCM in the UK in what must be a relatively recent remaster as it's letterboxed. (TCM can be quite bad at showing very old panned and scanned telecines when most decent channels in the UK almost never do.)
If they have gone to the trouble of remastering I suspect that the film may become available elsewhere too.

Version currently making the rounds on various channels was taken from the private collection of Jack Narz.

This movie has been available on Warner Brothers at WarnerArchive.com for over two years.
I just watched this film. Warren Oates is terrific but the film itself is one of the worst things I've ever seen.
The only reason I watched the entire movie was because of Warren Oates.
