Dogtooth

So I just saw Dogtooth couple days ago. And the film was just very peculiar, fantastic, and original.

But when I came across this page and read the synopsis, I was actually kind of surprised.

But then again, almost everything has been stolen, reused, and recycled.

It's just how the directors convey the films with those "stolen" materials.

I thought Dogtooth was still F$%KING amazing, regardless of someone saying that Dogtooth was a rip-off of this film.

I haven't watched Dogtooth yet, but have heard great things about it. But as soon as I saw the trailer and found out what it was about, I totally thought it looked like a rip off of this film. I'm not bashing it, as I haven't seen it yet, and for all I know they may be completely different films, with the exception of the premise.

i watched in the interview w/DOGTOOTH'S director. he said he first imagined the story as scifi. it wouldn't have made me think less of his great script if he had credited CASTLE OF PURITY. he very obviously was influenced by the latter film. it's like he took the main theme and some of the scenes and stretched them out, made them much dreamier and even more insidious, esp by setting the story in such a pleasant house w/lots of sunlight.
