It's funny but I realised that this film had some sort of impact on me as a young teen when i saw it...they use to rerun on tv many times during the early 70's. A group of misfits at a summer camp band together to free the buffalo at a great sacrifice.....Considering this was a Stanly Kramer film that was nominated for an Oscar...why the hell hasn't it come out?
ME TOO!! I am Barry Robins' sister and I have 2 copies of the original video but I am so scared they are going to get ruined somehow or turn obsolete!! If you hear anything about a DVD, let me know!!! I'll have to buy out the first batch, though!! Elizabeth Robins-Edelson
I know! I have all of the segments saved in my "Favorites" list. Unfortunately, it's chopped up somewhat, and when the person who summited the videos wants to remove them, then you lose the videos off your list. No, I want the DVD, because it would be uncut and perhaps they'll put on interesting materials as "bonus features"--such as outakes, interviews, commentaries, etc.
Besides, when it does come out officially on DVD, then the movie would be digitilized and remastered for better picture and sound quality.
Agreed, the DVD is ALWAYS better, though at least you will not lose the movie if you go to www.keepvid.com and download the clips to your computer. Choppy, but you have the movie. Meanwhile, let's hope they release this brilliant film soon!

I understand that a documentary on bed-wetters will be included when the DVD is finally released as well as a wildlife management documentary on culling herds. Rumor has it that an actual interview with a buffalo will also be present.
I have no good reason and suspect that monkeys possess some sort of soul. Geode reply share
Boy, I think the interview with the buffalo would really be interesting to hear! Of course, it will be with a grandchild or a great-grandchild, since buffalo only have a lifetime of twenty years or so. Hey, maybe they could find an old-timer who eats yogurt on a daily basis!!!!
Really – PETA is holding this film up? Considering some of PETA's advertisements, this film is completely in the spirit of those folks.
Anyone who mentions "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" is a dog after my own heart! I bought my local video store's copy when it went out of business, and I just tracked down Judith Rossner's novel. I suspect the music rights have held that one up.
What you need to do is go to an audio-video house and have the video transferred to DVD. It'll cost less than fifty bucks. In this way, you won't have to worry when temperature and age eventually degrade the film stock that you have.
The DVD just got released by Sony...i found it by accident looking thru the Cult film section at Amoeba Music here in Los Angeles...its dated as a 2012 release...so is suspect it just came out!
I just got the 2012 DVD release of this movie....it looks like it was done with minimal frills...no dvd menu, no bios....buuuuut it looks very restored....I am so glad they finally got this out!! Finally!! Well worth having!!
I'll wait until I see a Columbia DVD, since they released it theatrically. Even an Image title on DVD would be better than paying 99 cents for a download. At least there is a chance for extras with the Columbia DVD.
