It is somewhat ironic that Fassbinder ends his film with this song which was later covered by Freddie Mercury who was his lover at one time.
"A voice from behind me reminds me. Spread out your wings you are an angel."
I don't think they were actually - Mercury was involved with Barbara Valentin, who starred in many of Fassbinder's films.
