Was This EVER Truly Released as Son of Blob?

Hello Everyone. i have scoured the internet for years now looking for either an opening title card or some other piece of information to conclusively know if Beware! The Blob [1972] was ever released as Son of Blob either in theatres or to television. ive read online that many people have tried to find a ''print'' of this supposed film. does anyone know what the scoop is? let me know. thanks. :)

There were prints of the movie released at least to television and on video tape with the title Son Of Blob. I saw it in like 1980 on a local Phoenix, AZ station with the title card Son Of Blob. The Video Gems VHS release that came out around 1987 has the title card Son Of Blob. As far as I know, all DVD releases, even the one advertised on Amazon.com as Son Of The Blob, have the title card Beware! The Blob.

So, your best bet is to try and found a copy of the Video Gems VHS on eBay for a version with the title card Son Of Blob. I still have my copy and it's the only version I have with Son Of Blob on the title screen.

About a year ago, there was supposed to be a new DVD release called Son Of Blob, but that got cancelled. It was a real disappointment to me because I wanted a DVD quality release with the title card Son Of Blob.

However, the upcoming Kino Blu-Ray/DVD release may have the Son Of Blob title card as a bonus feature.

On Amazon.com, the description for the DVD says this:

"Bonus Features: Audio Commentary by Film Historian Richard Harland Smith | Alternate Title Sequence | Trailers "

"Alternate Title Sequence" means to me that it is the opening titles sequence, but with the Son Of Blob title card on it.

Oh, I forgot two things.

I saw the film under the title Son Of Blob more recently than 1980 on TV.

It aired on a local Indiana station around 1986. WEHT out of Evansville. I taped it on Betamax, believe it or not.

And then there was the Al "Grandpa Munster" Lewis airings in syndication around 1990 that I think also worked their way to TBS Saturday afternoons. I believe that aired under the title card Son Of Blob.

AMC aired the film in 2002 under the title SON OF BLOB. I've never actually seen it under any other title, even at the drive-in in 1972.

I only saw this film as Son Of Blob until I got the 2001 Image DVD with the Beware! The Blob title sequence. So, for 20 plus years I only ever knew this film was called Son Of Blob. On TV in Phoenix, on TV out of Indiana in 1986, on the Video Gems VHS in 1988, the Grandpa Lewis showings in the early 1990's.
