upcoming US DVD says US and UK version
Anyone know what the difference is between the US version and the UK version.Does one have scenes the other doesn't.

Just looked at Amazon.com and it is (unsurprisingly) Region 1. I looked at Amazon.co.uk and it is (unsurprisingly) Region 2. Both had comments about editing losses.
According to Amazon US it is 99 minutes long. According to Amazon UK it is 86 minutes long.
To verify this, perhaps someone could report the length of the UK version from the DVD itself, and someone could report the DVD length of the US version. A difference between 99 and 86 is a lot of editing . . .
I've a VHS to DVD transfer, which has no cuts/editing. If I see those two numbers appear in this thread, I'll put the unedited number in also, and we'll see how it all aligns/dis-aligns.
I actually have the region 2 UK dvd and it does say 86 minutes on the back.Amazon says 99 minutes for the US version.13 edited out minutes seems like a lot for a tv pilot.I've already ordered the region 1 dvd so i'll know for sure soon enough.

Some time ago I transferred the VHS version onto DVD. I doubt the VHS had any editing/cutting, yet it is 96 minutes in length, or three minutes shorter than the 99 minutes the US version claims to be.
Perhaps, rather than using the time on the boxes, you could put the DVDs in the player and see if they're really 99 (US) and 86 (UK). Obviously, I (as well as others that read this) could use this information.
Also, could you make a comment on their quality? If one is better and the other longer I'd plan on doing as you are and get both. I'm hoping to just get one.

I put the UK region 2 DVD in for the first time today but it won't play.I've tested other region 2 DVD's in my region free player and they work fine so i can only assume that i bought a defective disc.I'll check the region 1 disc when it gets here and let you know.

I also have an all region DVD player. So whichever DVD turns out best (least edits and viewable quality) I would be interested.
Got the region 1 today.The quality looks ok. There's lots of noticeable grain and specs but personally i think it looks good for something that was filmed 40 years ago.If i include the credits the UK version clocks in at around 89 minutes.The US version is about 96 minutes.That's about 3 minutes less than the back of the case claims.Must have been a typo.
