Was this meant to be a British series, or American?

It was filmed under the British ITV logo, and was obviously shot in England. Was it meant to be a pilot for a UK tv series or was it meant to be run on a US network? Or perhaps both, ala The Avengers and Secret Agent/Danger Man?

In any event, it's too bad it did not work out, the premise was very interesting and I think it would have made a good series. Nimoy and Hampshire made a likable couple.

A similar failed pilot, also filmed mainly in Britain was 1977's Spectre, staring Robert Culp and Gig Young. Spectre got more deeply into the supernatural demonology aspects of the psychic detective genre.

I agree with all you said, and I still pull out my DVD and play it once in a while.

I do not remember where I heard this from, so take it as hearsay, but I understood the problem was cost--expensive to make--lots of location shots. (It was to be filmed all over Europe and more.)

I'm watching Baffled on the Comet TV subchannel network as I'm typing this. Thanks for referencing Spectre (1977). I briefly confused it with Baffled. Too bad the series never launched. Susan Hampshire was easy on the eyes.
