Anyone looking for a copy try...

Big Lots, if you have one in your area. I just found one there among all their DVD's for $3. After rummaging through them I only found one. Picked up several unexpected finds there in the past. I've had a VHS copy for years from a yard sale. One of the best westerns of all time. Marshalls and T.J. Maxx also carry cheap priced DVD's and might be worth a look. Good luck.

I got mine at Big Lots for $3 also — probably even less because it might have been one of their two for $5 sales. I also bought "Let's Scare Jessica to Death," another superb '70s film that another poster mentioned.

Marshalls, Ross, Burlington Coat Factory and T.J. Maxx are amazing for out-of-print DVDs also, often for as low as a buck. Very puzzling distribution for films that deserve better, but I guess at a certain point the major stores just don't want to bother with some titles.

Hey, long time, no hear. Yes, I've seen some unexpected titles at Marshalls and T. J. Maxx. I ended up getting Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, and the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons at these stores. And it's also strange how they have titles I've never seen elsewhere.

Hello, Ernie_Pyle! Now I remember you from the "Harper Valley PTA" board.

Yes, it's amazing how those discount stores have titles you don't find anywhere else. For months I was looking for Clint Eastwood's "Tightrope," which for whatever reason is hard to find, even though it's an '80s film. I came across it at Marshall's for $2.99.

I also find some interesting stuff at the really cheap stores like Dollar Tree -- DVDs with episodes of "Dragnet," "Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show." I guess these are in the public domain, but I'd still rather have a DVD than watch them on the Internet.

Have you tried www.swapadvd.com? It's free and for every one you list that you no longer want and is requested you get a credit. Any you're trying to find that have been elusive just might be there. I've gotten several, including Play Dirty and The Resurrected, I really wasn't expecting. You get notified by email that one has been requested or one is on the way. So far Journey to the Far Side of the Sun has been on my wish list the longest. You're only out the postage as is the sender, usually about $1.90.

Thanks for the recommendation! That is a very useful site, and the price is right. I wonder if there's such a site for those of us who still use VHS?

As it is, I've amassed thousands of films in the past few years that I haven't watched, so I'm reluctant to add another layer to the backlog. But I also have thousands of films in storage that I have watched, and it would be great to put them to some use. If I were better organized and had more free time, I could do something productive with my collection rather than letting it gather dust.

Oh, man, I can't believe this was at Big Lots! for $3!

I check there every once in a while and I would have grinned ear to ear if I saw this movie. I taped it off of TCM on accident and was blown away by it. Just checked Amazon and they want $8 even for a used.

I need to send another suggestion to Criterion so they will put it out and give it a nice treatment.

Had no idea the other places like Burlington, TJ Maxx, etc. carried low priced DVDs.

If you see Bad Company at any of these for cheap, please give me a heads up so I can look for it!

I will certainly let your know if I see "Bad Company" on DVD in any of those aforementioned stores. It's probably been two years now since I bought my copy at Big Lots. Generally, that store's DVDs are 90 percent junk titles, but the 10 percent that are gems are worth the trip.

There is a record store near me that has this on VHS, I think for a buck. It's probably fullscreen, though, and I'm not sure of the condition of the tape.
