Needs Criterion treatment

I was lucky to catch this film on TCM one time while recording something else. IMO truly a great film. I did not seek out the current DVD as it seems it is barebones.

A Criterion DVD would be a perfect way to make more people aware of this gem and give current fans more of the film they love.

Anyone agree?

Criterion does take E-mail suggestions. I believe they do actually read them and sometimes respond.

I tweeted them about Bad Company last night, but haven't been tweeted back to yet.

I'm sure Jeff Bridges on the cover is because he is much more well known.

Just went over to Amazon, it looks like that 2002 DVD is out of print - even used copies going for almost $20.

They have an e-mail especially set up for Suggestions.

I agree...

This film is a product of its time- but what makes it special is that it was well ahead of its time in 1972. It helped de-stereotype the American West. Today (2012) it clearly appears dated in places (e.g., mono soundtrack)...but the film remains cutting edge within in its historical context and still pushes some comfort levels in 2012. One of my favorites.

I don't see Mono as a big deal.
I've noticed that Criterion Blu-Rays usually include the uncompressed Mono audio option if the film had one - I think the only difference between the DVD counterparts as far as Extras go.

Over a year has passed, so I post again.
I think I will send an e-mail, too.
Here's hoping...

Oh absolutely. I just watched Bad Company on Netflix Instant Viewing about 10 minutes ago. Fantastic cult western, one of the best imo. A Criterion for this would be wonderful and I would buy it.
