SPOLIER! Anyone else surprised....

when Boog gets the back of his head blown off for stealing apple pie??

Pretty freaky for a PG movie!

That was a great scene. Added some stark realism to the story, which just got better and better as they bungled their way across the Plains. Also liked the scene where they came across the hanged corpses of Loney and the other guy. In fact, for such a relatively simple plot, this movie had lots of excellent scenes and imagery, all strung together to make for one memorable movie.

You understand, Captain, that this mission does not exist, nor will it ever exist... Apocalypse Now

very true.
that's why i think it needs to get more recognition - a lot of people don't even know it exists - and have Criterion do it justice.

i wouldn't have known had i not accidentally recorded it off of TCM one time.

I don't remember hearing about this at all when it was released. did it get much distribution? It's a fine piece of understated storytelling that, yes, deserves to be seen more.
Barry Brown's death is a real letdown. He should have had a long and successful career.

Doubt it was PG.

"Doubt it was PG" ?

Um, yes it's PG!

reply

Yes, it was PG - back in the pre PG-13 days.

I saw it in the theater when I was "PG aged."

reply

I sort of expected it as the film was likely to get darker.

Its that man again!!
