IS this a sequel to Raimi's classic?

No, it's a spanish zombie movie the 2nd of 4 Blind (Evil) Dead movies, not as good as Raimi's Dead trilogy but still very good.

Yes, this is a sequel to a movie that came out eight years after this. You know those tricky Spanish directors, always using time-travel and crystal balls to make sequels to movies from the future…

Unless of course you are actually referring to Within the Woods which was only five years after this. Or perhaps his very first movie which was a mere four years after this.
