Questions

I watched the movie again last night after a long 25 years and found it to be even better than I had remembered. But I have a few questions.

When the spirit of Mr. Blunden stepped back into the body of his former self (right before the fire), why couldn't he change history himself - without having to rely on Lucy & Jamie? Was the spirit of Mr. Blunden not in control of the body he stepped into or was he just along for the ride? And does this question even make sense to anyone besides me?

Are we to assume that Arrabella, Bertie and the Wickenses died in the original fire? When the grave keeper told Lucy & Jamie the story of the fire and the deaths of Sara & Georgie, you would think he would have mentioned that everyone in the house had died in the fire. If they didn't originally, what became of them? And, did anyone else besides me feel sorry that Bella died? When I saw this as a 10 year old, I thought she was just as evil as her parents. But, last night I realized that she wasn't evil - just a total idiot.

And, why did Mrs & Mr Wickens want to burn down the mansion - didn't they live in it? Wouldn't that have destroyed part of the fortune they wanted to inherit?
