location

i know it says in the film its langley park bucks but ive been hunting on the web with no joy does anyone know where it was filmed and is the house still standing

Someone mentions in a post further down that the village still looks pretty much the same. I'm unsure about the lovely house they used, though.

The exterior of the house looks suspiciously like the one used in many of the carry On films (like Up The Khyber). I have a feeling its probably located at Pinewood studios and is either on the backlot or could be the production offices.

The interior of the house looks exactly the same as that used in the video for Simple Minds' 1985 #1 hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)"; were they filmed at the same location?

The hallway in Mr Blunden - I assume that it what you mean - was a set built at Pinewood - not least so that it could be virtually destroyed. Of course, numerous British stately homes have interiors of a similar style and the set may have been more or less based on a particular existing hall.

Langley Park was actually reassigned to Berkshire during one of the local government reshuffles which is why you may have difficulty finding "Langley Park" in Bucks. This link offers a pleasant walk to Langley Park from near Gerrards Cross and clarifies where it now is (effectively part of Slough, Berks). As indicated elsewhere, the house was not part of Langley Park itself but was a lot at Pinewood; it was previously called Heatherden Hall. Sadly, though the old village is still quite charming in and of itself, like many other places that were charming in the early 1970s (when the film was made), urban sprawl has now encroached on it to a considerable extent.

Heatherden Hall, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire

Apparently you can hire it for weddings/functions etc. They've put an ugly extension to the front of it - http://www.couturepinewood.com/

Wiki adds a few details - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heatherden_Hall

One of the more notable movies to be filmed there was From Russia With Love

Fortunately, the ugly extension, built for the 1970's version of The Great Gatsby, has now been removed.
In Mr Blunden there was a different false frontage built onto the Hall so that it would, a) look more like a front door - at the time there were normally french windows - and b) so that it could be destroyed by fire.
The original front door is round the side and can be seen in many films including Hitchcock's Young and Innocent.

There's another Langley Park in Kent, near Eden Park Station. Two schools (one for boys, one for girls) occupy the park. There is a small manor house built in the 1800's called Oakfield on the other side of South Eden Park Road, but this was not burned down, and has been converted into holiday flats (vacation appartments).

The part where they pull up outside a pub is The White Horse in Hedgerley which has also appeared in Midsomer Murders
