Dumbest Thieves ever (spoiler)

These guys had to be the dumbest thieves in the history of heist films. When they rip off $300,000 from the mob, why do they hang around. With all that loot get out of town instead of waiting around to be castrated or thrown off of a two hundred foot building. Go figure!

I wondered why they didn't run also. But this movie was also about winning, beating the other guys. They couldn't spend the money, so on some level they knew. I also think they hoped that Harlem would help them.

maybe so. no matter the illogic of the thieves, the movie is still vastly entertaining. it is a real artifact of the early 1970s the genre that included kojak, serpico, the original taking of pelham 1, 2, 3, panic in needle park, and born to win.

No idea why they tried not to make it out of New York.

Fargas was a dead man walking as soon as he went on a spending spree.

It's that man again!!

They wanted to make it look like they had nothing to do about the heist. Just think of it. If you heard of a big robbery made by 3 men and all of a sudden 3 men you knew disappeared for no reason. What would you think?

It 1950 was one of the biggest heist in American history at the time. I think it was the “Great Brinks Robbery”. I remembered in an interview that one of the robbers said that after they robbed the bank, the next day they went back to their jobs. So, it’s not entirely unbelievable that the thieves would hang around town.

What was also dumb is that in several critical scenes, when trying to get away they climbed higher in buildings, instead of trying to get completely away from the buildings. What were they thinking? Once you go up, you are trapped.
