Which woman should John Boy have married

Who did you want John Boy to end up with and marry:

1) Marcia Wollery
2) Jenny Pendleton
3) Sarah Jane Simmons
4) Selina Linville
5) Daisy Garner
6) Janet Gilchrist (who he actually married)
7) Other

Al - Alicia
An - Andrew
Jo - Joseph
Be - Benjamin

reply

I'll go with Marcia Wollery, his high school sweetheart.

reply

Marcia Woolery was a tramp, according to Olivia and Esther. They didn't call her that, but they implied it.

Daisy Garner was NOT a virgin. Veto.

Sarah Jane was damaged goods.

Selina Linville was cray.

Jenny was played by Sian Barbara Allen, who eventually broke up with Richard Thomas (Johnboy) in real life. That wouldn't have worked.

Janet was the right choice (though you did leave out Jane Schuler, the proto-Janet from "A Day for Thanks on Waltons Mountain".

reply

I'll confess, I am making my vote based on the fact that she was easy on the eyes. Liked her as Murray Slaughter's daughter on MTM as well.

reply

Daisy Garner was NOT a virgin. Veto.

?????????????????????????????????

And why is that an issue?

Look, it was in a barn. People do a lot of stupid things in barns.

reply

Because it was the 1930s and the Waltons were Baptists. You can't apply today's sensibilities to a period piece. It would have been a HUGE issue back then.

reply

That and any girl of not the same religious background would have been a huge issue. The show buckled in the religious aspect when Toni showed up but then Esther was a shell of herself and Michael Learned was pretty well off the show. It would have been a major credibility issue if Toni had come along in the early seasons.

I always liked John Boy and Jenny together. First love. I kept hoping she would return and they would get married. The arguments he had with Marcia Wollery were funny though.

reply

I would have liked to see John Boy end up with Jenny. They seemed like they had great chemistry. I loved how she loved all the Waltons and wanted to cook his meals, clean his house, etc., I think she would have been really content as John Boy's wife. It would have been really fun to see that relationship develop more.

reply

Another vote for Jenny.

reply

I agree they had great chemistry! And she fit right in with all the other Waltons. It would have been sweet if they had built their house right there on Waltons Mountain.

reply

From your list I would say.... Daisy Garner. But there were a couple women that were not there, like...
Sis Bradford -"The Beguiled", and Madeline Bennett -"The Woman" .

reply

Daisy and Jenny were the best potential wives John-Boy ever had. Jenny was sweet and nurturing. Daisy was elegant with a genuinely kind heart.

Some of his other flings weren't too healthy. Marsha Woolery was an audacious floozy. Sis Bradford and Selina Linville were downright sociopathic.

reply

Elizabeth referred to Marcia as a hussy in The Celebration episode from Season 6. But I still think she was a cute hussy : )

reply

Was Daisy the dancer who gave up her baby for adoption? I vote for her. Her scenes with the Walton girls were genuine. Yes, she had a "past," but I think it would have made for some interesting storylines. Unfortunately that child they cast as her daughter was just so bizarre looking.

reply

If all his girlfriends I liked Jenny the best. I feel the same about Marsha as Olivia and Esther do.

reply

Jenny Pendleton because she loved all of the Waltons and was very nice and respectful toward them. Like John-Boy, she was very family-oriented.

No one. They should have just made him a grouchy old mountain hermit.

Maria: I look like a slut. Ariel: But a nice slut.
