Being a Baldwin sister...

...was apparently conducive to a very long life.

Dorothy Stickney was Emily Baldwin in the "Homecoming" movie and lived to be 101. Mary Jackson played the part in the series and lived to be 95.

Josephine Hutchinson was Mamie Baldwin in the "Homecoming" movie and lived to be 94. Helen Kleeb played the part in the series and lived to be 96.

Was it due to the Recipe?

You've made my day with this topic, esskayess. The Baldwin ladies [both the movie and series] are my favorite Walton characters. According to Helen Kleeb, she and Mary Jackson became as close as actual sisters in real life.

I suspect so. 

A memorable scene in the episode that Jason stayed with them after the fire.

Jason played their piano, one of the sisters tooted on a recorder and the other danced - wonderful.

They lived long because they didnt worry about money and drank the recipe all the time.

I believe it was their lack of any connection to reality. And the Recipe. ?

I've never seen the sisters actually drinking the recipe when they always offer it to others. So it makes me wonder if they do secretly know that it is bootleg whiskey that they making and want to keep sober themselves while others get drunk.
