The guest house

I've been watching the series through for the first time in many years on one of our local channels. Something that's been bothering me is how the "guest house" off to the side of the main house seems to come and go without any real logic.

They housed the wing walker gal in it, yet the widowed cousin Olivia ran John Boy out of his room. Although I suppose it was more convenient for John Boy to make passes at the wing walker out in the guest house.

I'm watching the episode today where the house burned. The kids tried sleeping in a big tent and it rained, John and Olivia slept in the barn, etc...but no one moved into the guest house. They could have easily put the cots for the kids in there instead of in the tent. I know, they wouldn't have the storyline of them being separated, and so on....but it kind of bugs me how that guest house comes and goes. lol
