Are The Sensitive Ones Coming after Fred Next?

Totally freaking hilarious show. Fred used the n word numerous times. He wanted to stick Aunt Esther's face in dough and make some gorilla cookies. He constantly went after Julio, their Puerto Rican neighbor. When "Lamont Goes African", he referred to all of Lamont's African artifacts as "jungle junk".

Fred would never be accepted in today's world of delicate feelings. Is Sanford and Son next to be yanked off the airwaves?

reply

Black people are MOSTLY immune to canceling. Mostly.

Fred was one funny guy!

reply

That didn't work out so well for Cosby! I wasn't a huge fan of his show, but I thought audiences could distinguish between Cliff Huxtable and Bill Cosby. Didn't think it needed to be yanked off the air.

reply

Exactly. Agreed. That's why put the word MOSTLY in my post twice.

Fred G Sanford is dead now. Telling jokes about white cops in the sky.

Damn he was great. LOL

reply

I saw the "mostly" twice. I just had to point out the exception. lol

"White cops in the sky"...I recall an early episode when Fred pretended to be robbed to cover up the fact that he broke some of Lamont's figurines.

The white cop asked him if the perpetrators were colored and Fred said, "Yeah, white!"

In the very first episode Lamont came home with something he bought from an old white woman.

Fred said that there's nothing uglier than an old white woman.

Those were the days when audiences could laugh at silly stuff and insults and not cry and have their feelings hurt.

S&S was a great show, and had both black and white audiences laughing in the '70s. In general, people were more intelligent and mature back then. It would make woke heads explode today, but most of those empty skulls belong to college-age white people, ironically.

reply

For sure. There was an English show called Love Thy Neighbour, the way the white English guy and the Jamaican trade off on each other with insults would kill people now.

reply

Could be the show was only one step away from the "N" word at times. Oddly enough it will most likely be white people complaining about Fred's racist ways!

reply

Artisan- They used that word plenty of times. But it was removed from some scenes a few years ago.

In an episode where Lamont goes to court to fight a traffic ticket, Fred goes along as his lawyer. The exchange between Fred and the arresting officer, a white cop, is hilarious. But some "offensive' dialogue is cut. I have the first three seasons on DVD, so I don't have to put up with TV censorship.

reply

I never watched the whole series just odd re-runs. It was probably censored back then too. It sounds like a hilarious scene.

Once again , the mystery "sensitive ones" are no where to be seen.
People be jumping on this thread like:
"What ?
they'ere coming for this now!
they cant do that
I'm joining the fight!
this has gone too far!
is nothing sacred!
yada yada yada"

When in fact the whole thing was made up by someone who wants to fight against the *imaginary* wokes who want to cancel shit ..

Theres no wokes here . who are you trying to convince?

By posting shit like this , you are furthering the woke army.
The imaginary army
most of the people reading this will think it was written because some "woke" did indeed come after the show, and will think "oh no not again"
You are doing there work for them.
You are , in effect , a woke

and if this show is cancelled im gonna blame you for crying wolf
when obviously THERE WAS NO FUCKING WOLF

reply

Geez, you're in a bad mood! Why so angry about a little post concerning an old TV show? Looking for an outlet for your anger? No "peaceful" protests that you could join today? LOL

I never used the word 'woke' in my post. I was just wondering if this show would be yanked out of syndication the way GWTW was removed from on-line movie packages because it's "racist".
TVLand pulled Roseanne out of syndication because she made some comment which supposedly hurt some delicate feelings. She was also fired from The Connor Family.

According to you there are " no wokes here". And so how am I furthering the cause of an "imaginary army"? You better check your logic!

I never heard of 'woke' culture until I saw a bunch of them on youtube. Don't want to scare you, but they exist!

You are going to blame ME if this show gets cancelled? How does a show which isn't on the air anymore get cancelled? huh? I only wondered if Sanford would be pulled out of syndication. It can't be cancelled!

And gee, thanks for implying that I have SO MUCH power that I can get a show removed from syndication by typing a paragraph on a message board!

And, by the way, "Crying Wolf" has nothing at all to do with what I posted. Why don't you read the story of the boy who cried wolf? The moral of the story has not one damn thing to do with what I talked about in my post.

You may be thinking of the story of Chicken Little. But then again, children often DO confuse the titles of stories.
You sound like an angry little woke snowflake yourself whose feelings got triggered. You're a cliche (and not terribly bright).

In one episode, Fred was in court for some reason. The courtroom was packed with his friends and neighbors.
At one point he says to the judge, "Look at all the n-words here. There're enough n-words here to make a Tarzan movie!"

reply

I love that scene!!! Fred was defending Lamont for a traffic ticket. When that episode is shown in syndication, the "offensive dialog" is deleted. And the scene is not very funny.

reply

When I watch that episode on GetTV, that particular word is still heard.

reply

They better not try it. I draw the line there.

He's dead. They USUALLY leave the dead alone unless it's a slow day on twitter.
