Was it Bubba or Grady?

If you mean which friend was the character's best friend, it's kinda hard to say, it's been indicated that he's known Grady since he was still in St Louis, and met Bubba when he moved to California, I'd say Grady, Fred's known him longer, and entrusted him to take care of his only son

I would think Grady. In the pool table episode when everyone was eating Fred out of house and home, Bubba was part of the problem Grady helped work with Fred to solve the problem if I remember right.
