I'm Watching An Episode Called "Cliffy" . . . . .

Co-starring Tyne Daly, Glynis O'Conner and Norman Alden, about a mentally handicapped person called Cliffy, and I got to say, this is one of the starchiest programs I have ever seen.

Alden is an outraged father over his daughter (O'Conner) hanging around with Cliffy and his sister (Daly).

Two guys are committing murders in a neighborhood and have killed Alden's brother. Alden thinks Cliffy is doing it.

It's all total corn, especially in the performance by the guy playing Cliffy.

Funniest bit has to be the 'correction' to call him retarded and not handicapped.

Gerald O'Loughlin's pretty laughable too, with his "the father has made a charge, so follow up on it!"

Surely they all aren't like this.

I remember another show back in the seventies that also dealt with a mentally handicapped adult and I wouldn't mind seeing it again, but I don't even recall what the show was. Possibly Police Story.

Another episode of the same show, I think, had Conchatta Farrell as an abusive mother. They finally caught up with her when they found she'd put her son in the garbage can. He was still alive.

Seems like Farrell was in another show where her grown son killed several family members and she now had to deal with herself and another person who wasn't killed being threatened by this relation.
