The big wheel

Wonder if anyone ever threw their back out on that thing. Used to feel bad for the little old ladies trying to get it to spin a full rotation. Bob would sometimes help them out. Then there’d be some Marine who’d make it spin forever. It seemed a bit too physical for a price guessing game.

My wife won a car and got to spin the wheel (lost ). She said it’s very heavy and awkward to grip and spin.

Drew had to spin it for a wheelchair contestant once.

Nice! Congratz to your wife. Always impressed to hear when people actually win things on game shows. So many hurdles and hoops to get through.

It was her 50th birthday, and when she got called down, she thought maybe I had paid extra to have her called down! In actuality, she has a great personality, and it helped that our daughter made a "I just turned 50" shirt with an arrow pointing to the "50" on the Big Wheel.

Drew will do it for an old lady now and then. One of the things I miss about the old show is they rarely have old, weak and frail contestants anymore. They always seemed to appreciate being on the show and winning a lot more than young folks. You could tell it really mattered to them. It was better tv. One thing I noticed about both Bob and Drew helping with the wheel is it was almost always a gutter ball. Seems to jinx it.
