Plinko

Does anyone else agree that this is the best game on the show?

reply

It's the best game for the producers of the show, since most contestants don't win much money on it, yet it's a crowd favorite. I'd like to know what the average amount won on Plinko is (not counting special episodes with inflated prizes). I bet it's less than $2,000, maybe even less than $1,000.

I've been saying this for years. I don't get why people go crazy for Plinko when, in reality, people don't win very much on it.

I tell ya. It was my favorite game when I was kid, but now it doesn't interest me at all anymore. I'm not sure it's just being older. I'm not sure Drew has the personality to properly make the game feel exciting. Bob Barker had a way of making mundane things feel fun and exciting.

I think I agree with you on that.

reply

Yes, I agree with you. Plinko is the best game and it is the most enjoyable to watch too. 😊

the yodeler one, where the guy hikes up the mountain was a favorite of mine too. but plinko is just fun.

Cash is King on TPIR because it sucks to pay taxes (based on inflated MSRP) on something you’re not totally in love with.

We lucked out that my wife won a Honda Civic and we love the car! She won $500 cash by guessing the Contestants Row prize exactly, but we never even saw that money. They withheld it as part of the 8.75% State Tax owed up front on the car. The cash Drew Carey handed her was prop money!

In the case of Plinko, CBS will withhold 8.75% of it for California State Tax, and the following April 15th you’ll owe Federal tax. But unlike some prizes that very few people really want (pool tables, hot tubs and boats!), you don't have to sell your prize just to afford your IRS bill!
