Norman Lear would like to do a Live in Front of a Studio Audience on Maude's abortion episode

"I'd like to do Maude," Lear says of the third Live in Front of a Studio Audience. "It would be fascinating to see. I'm thinking about the (1972) abortion episode — I don't like saying it that way — the Maude episode that dealt with that subject. Forty years later, it's a more sensitive subject that it was then. But I would take any episode. I loved the show so much."

With all due respect to the legendary Norman Lear, it's a horrible idea. What I can't believe is that those terrible live versions of All in the Family and The Jeffersons actually won an Emmy. If either of those had been released as actual series for the first time now, they would sink without a trace.
