Dreams

OK I wasn't a die hard fan of the show, but I was into it when in the mood. One episode of MASH in particular that stood out for me, came in a later season (Season 8, Ep 22). It was titled "Dreams." This was one of the more dramatic/"no laugh track" episodes that wandered from its usual comedic storylines. I guess leave it up to viewer's opinion, because I was never a fan of the few "dramatic" turns that some episodes took, but in MY opinion, this was one of the best made episodes, even venturing into eerie and disturbing and "nightmarish" (which is appropriate since the episode centered on nightmares of those in the unit.

If you're a fan of the show but haven't seen this episode, please look it up and watch it. It's very effective, almost tearful.

There's about a dozen or so episodes on my personal do not watch list, and Dreams is at the very top.

I like many of the dramatic episodes, but this one is Unbearable for me, and it's not because the silliness or impossibility of it. Whereas many people like it, I just find it pretentious, badly written, directed, and acted IMO. Another episode where M*A*S*H tried to accomplish something it was not capable of achieving.

Edit: There is an episode that would be far more painful for me to watch than Dream: the one where Hawkeye is "sneezing" constantly. I wasn't even sure what that yell he does was supposed to be until someone said "bless you". Sounds more like someone is repeatedly giving him a hot foot. I've heard people passing kidney stones make less noise than he does when "sneezing".
