Hawkeye Pierce should have gotten this spinoff show.

reply

I disagree.

reply

I noticed a lot of people on here seem to dislike Hawkeye, and I don't understand why.

reply

Because he's a heavy handed, preachy, self-righteous prick? That's my guess.

Seriously, Hawkeye is a pretty unlikeable person and it's even pointed out many times on the show why. Hawkeye became even more outrageous and preachy as Alda seemingly got more influence the in the show. I'm not saying Alda is an asshole but the show had possibilities that weren't realized because of how much focus was left on Hawkeye. I will say it is likely Alda is an asshole.

reply

Exactly. It's Hawkeye's way or no way and how many people can live with that in real life.

reply

Alan Alda didn’t want the spinoff show. The three they got were the only ones willing

rereading I'm guessing the OP was meant as a joke and i didn't get it. My Bad.

The Hawkeye of the TV show was actually much more likeable than the Hawkeye of the original movie. The Hawkeye of the movie was frankly cruel to anyone he saw as being pro-army, as well as horribly sexist.

The Hawkeye of the TV show is just preachy and full of himself. Annoying, but as there was no harm in him, he was ac big improvement.
