Singer/songwriter Patrice Holloway passed away on October 1, 2006, due to a heart attack. Holloway was the singing voice of Valerie Brown, the tambourine player for the fictional band Josie and the Pussycats, during the first season of their eponymous cartoon. Before her singing role as Valerie, Holloway recorded records for Motown and Capitol Records and co-wrote the hit song "You've Made Me So Very Happy" with her sister Brenda, which became a hit for Blood, Sweat, and Tears in 1969.
