How can we get access to the show. I remember this as a child and it was one scary televison program. Classic. Any info is very much appreciated.

I have been ordering episodes off of Ebay and hghly recommend them. I was only 4 years old when the series was on in the early 70's so I have no memories of it but was intrigued to buy the episodes off of Ebay. I am very surprised at how well some were done and if you appreciate 70's horror take the time to track some down on tape. Extremely creepy still to this day I recommed the episode's "The Dead we Leave Behind", "Elegy for a Vampire", "The Summer House", "Dark Vengence", and "The Phantom of Herald Square". I hope that all the episodes may be released on DVD some day.

I have looked for episodes to buy, but cannot find them...even on ebay. Could somebody point me in the right direction on where to find these episodes. I was a huge fan back when I was a kid and this show is why I love horror so much now.
Thanks.

Hi Jason:

I had not checked back on this website for awhile. I am glad that I did today, because I am also a fan of the Ghost Story/Circle of Fear series. I just got my 5th copy off of ebay yesterday, Doorway to Death and The Ghost of Potter's Field, and I am going to view it to make sure it is of good quality. I previously found The Summer House and House of Evil from Ebay, but the vhs copies were not of good picture quality. I also found the Graveyard Shift episode on vhs, from MoviesUnlimited, but the picture quality was also poor. I was just a child when they were on, but I remember watching them with my sister and grandmother. Let me know what episodes you have, and other movie interests. I do not know if you will recall "Don't be afraid of the dark", back from the early 70's, it was a movie, along the same lines as Circle of Fear, but I was also able to get a copy of that on vhs, which was a real blast from the past!! Does anyone remember an episode that had a doll house in it? A little girl received a doll house that matched her house and family members that matched family members...then whatever she does to the dolls happens to the real people. It was so scary! Sound familiar to anyone?? I am trying to find the name of the show that aired this back in the 70s and I hoping someone can help.

reply

I own the entire series on VHS and I was delighted to watch this episode again recently. Very creepy! Cool thing is, the little girl was actually Jodie Foster!

Glad to see there are so many fans out there,

Charles

Yes, it was Juie Foster. It was one of my earliest memory of her on TV. Is there any rerun of the series in US? I've never seen it again since it was shown in the 70's in here Hong Kong but I still remember clearly some episodes!

In this episode do the house and dollhouse burn down? We're the "people" in the house made out of cookies and toothpicks?

Thanks.

reply

Yes, they were made out of cookies that the grandpa charachter turned into "voodoo dolls" of the family.

Hi,

I am glad to see others who liked this series as well. I added a comment to the site about how scary the pilot movie was called "The New House". I read somewhere, though, that the pilot episode is "missing" Do you know if it really is, as I would love to watch it again. To this day I can remember the end of that movie, and how terrifying it was. They don't make scary movies like that anymore!

Hi Jason (or others); I remember this series from my teen years and I always enjoyed it. Sort of along the lines of Night Gallery. I'm looking for a bit of information regarding one episode. It's gotten pretty nebulous with the passing years but I'll do the best I can. I want to say the episode was about a couple who are staying in a "house with a history". One of the people may have lived there as a child and had returned after a long absence. I seem to remember one of the characters standing on a second floor landing and looking down into the living room. I think this takes place at night. They are looking down into the dark room and an apparition appears of someone pushing a child in a swing. I don't know if this is supposed to be a replay of an event in the observer's childhood or if they are watching a ghostly re-enactment from a previous owner's childhood... Like I said, pretty nebulous. I MOSTLY remember being totally captivated by the music that was accompanying the apparition of the child being pushed in the swing. I can't remember the music because I only heard it the one time I saw the original episode. But I have to track this down somehow before I can ever hope to die in peace. Does any of the above strike a chord with any of you other fans of the series? I'd appreciate any information you could provide that would Windex the glass through which I view the foggy images within my memory. Thanks for any help.

Cool to see such a growing group of fans. This show was a real influence on me when I was a kid. When I saw the series again in New York City in the mid '80s, I realized that some of my nightmares actually came from parts of this series! They've been kicking around my subconcious for over a decade!

I had been looking high and low for episodes of the series. I had a few on VHS recorded in SLP and tuned in with rabbit ears, so there was a lot of blur, double images, etc. Recently, on Ebay, someone has been offering the ENTIRE series on DVD. I work with video image quality for a living, so I was disappointed by the quality of the image when shown on a large TV. Lots of digitzed artifacts and squarish patterns. But, it was probably from being highly compressed or some other problem. However, it IS the series, and it IS watchable and great to see the episodes I have forgotten. Among the ones I remember best:

THE CONCRETE CAPTAIN (one that gave me nightmares for years)

ALTER EGO where a boy creates a duplicate of himself who tries to drive his kindly teacher insane.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT where ghosts on a haunted movie lot torment John Astin and his wife to take over the soul of her unborn baby. A great cameo by William Castle.

I'll have to join the yahoo group!

This show scared the hell out of me. Mainly the one where that ghost lady appears in the mirror. I was afraid to look in mirrors at night for a long time afterwards. I was sure my mind would produce a ghost for me to see.

Wow, I'm not crazy!! Everybody I know who I ask about this show look at me as if I just got off a spaceship. Some of my earliest memories are of this show, as well as some of my first nightmares that I also carry around with me today. When i wake up and helplessly start thinking scary thoughts many are still images from this show. I must have been only 3 or 4 years old, but I do remember. I would love to see these episodes again.

Hi all,

I grew up watching Circle of Fear. i was around 8 years old when the show was on. I would love to get the show to add to my movie and tv collection. I remember it coming on right after Hee Haw. My mother loved Hee Haw and I would start getting scared when the closing song on Hee Haw was performed. If it had not been for my mother watching Hee Haw, I might not have known about Circle Of fear.

I am trying to hold out for an official boxed set. The way obscure TV shows are turning up now days, I really don't think we have too long to wait.

My favorite episodes-

"The Dead We Leave Behind" and, the one with the giant toy horse.
