The Jane Fairfax in this looks psychotic

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing throughout this long miniseries. I thought she was going to snap at any moment! I, as well, preferred Olivia Williams. You can see why Frank Churchill fell in love with her.

This Jane Fairfax had the overplucked 70s eyebrows and an overly nervous manner.

I was so surprised when she spoke so sharply to her aunt. I'm almost certain that didn't happen in the book. It directly went against her character and her extreme reservation.

I didn't like her as much as the people who portrayed Jane Fairfax in other versions. Perhaps it was the directing. I have seen actors put on stilting, almost what appearst to be faltering acts in one movie and then act completely different in others. For example, Sylvestra Le Touzel in Mansfield Park puts on a very unique performance as Fanny Price with almost a mechanical movement. But in other roles, Northanger Abbery and Amazing Grace she acted quite differently. I actually think they were trying to portray a sickly Jane Fairfax and that's how it came out. Oh well.

And in this version, Jane actually did sing, although falteringly because she was sick.

But I don't think this version is too long. I like it overall because it is longer and takes the time to devlope situations. That's not to say I don't enjoy the other ones equally well.
