Lost Equipment: What did the boys leave behind?

We're at the start of the series on ME TV, so let's see if we can track the losses episode by episode. I think seeing how much we tally up would be fun. Yes, I am glad to have online compatriots in lunacy.

Roy's Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in the final fire.

reply

Good catch. Last we see the air tank, it's on the janitor's lap, but next time we see him, the boys are helping him out the window; we don't actually see it get set aside. And of course Roy's "hasty exit" keeps him from picking it up. ๎€‡ (In real life, I suppose firefighters working on that floor could have retrieved it later, since they knew exactly where it was. I like that thought, so that's how I imagine it working out. ๐Ÿ‘ )

reply

Do ropes count? They left a rope in the abandoned building after saving the kid. Related thought: I wonder what LACoFD's annual rope budget is??

reply

Almost everything they brought in when they saved the guy in the overturned tractor. They brought their rescue boxes. Plus all the ropes the engine came up/down the cliff with. As they got the last person off the ropes, everyone just ran for the engine, so they didn't retrieve them.

Did anyone else see them bringing up the black and orange boxes. I assume the squad was far enough away they could go back to that and get it, otherwise I would think that kind of a loss would be explained.

Johnny's turncoat, mask and oxygen bottle when he jumped in the vat.

reply

And the shirt he doesn't wear to the hospital might be a loss since it was covered in red wine. ๎€ฆ Though I guess that comes out of his uniform allowance. I do wonder how their boots recovered from jumping in water, wine, etc., which makes me think that Johnny might have been making squishy shoe sounds at Rampart and/or reeking of wine.

reply

That must be an instance of variation on E!-magic: no odors. Work for two hours at a fire scene and then go to Rampart? Nobody complains that you smell like smoke. Fall in a vat of zinfandel? Dixie doesn't have the urge to follow you around with a cheese platter. Work in tight conditions in a hot, stuffy, cramped elevator for half an hour? Not a single person suggests that you could use a shower. ๎—

reply

Yeah, and we hear how the show was supposed to be so realistic. Where are the shower scenes, huh? ๎€“

reply

Probably not something they would want to show. If the Brady Bunch were not allowed to show a toilet, they probably couldn't even show the shower on Emergency.

reply

Well, we did see that one shower scene with Johnny in the shower and Roy throwing cold water on him.

reply

It's true, but I want more!

reply

Yes I agree!!

reply

Roy's helmet went M.I.A. in the oily crap-storm under the house.

reply

They picked up the boxes carried by the squad, as they brought up TNT guy, but they left the jaws and it's hoses/cables down below. One would think that was a rather costly piece of equipment to leave behind, even if you were going to get blown to smithereens...

Yes gema6 I caught that too. I guess they got what they could all carry and headed up the hill in case the dyno went off. And you have to remember, Chet wasn't much help because he was up top with the camera.๎€‡

reply

LOL! That's a good one! I have to say I'm so happy that everyone as been adding to this thread. It's fun. I want to work up some fun Tumblrs/images at the end of the final season when we have tallies.

reply

The hose, mask and air tank for Roy and John.

reply

Didn't get a chance to watch it, but I'm pretty sure the guys leave the drug box (and whatever else they had with them) in the movie studio building. With the bear.

Some day I'm going to take a couple of hours (ha!) and go through my hundreds of pics and make some silly captions for them. I really should do that. (Of course, there are a lot of things I really should do... it's just a matter of, you know, getting off my duff and doing them. ๎€)

reply

Roy and Johnny use the biophone (duh) and the PortaPower in the bus when they work to free the "beatific" Sister Barbara from the wreckage.

As far as I could see, neither piece of equipment were brought back OUT of the bus.

reply

At final rescue at the rail yard, Roy lost his helmet when the rail car 'sploded and knocked him on his kiester. I think they found him having rolled underneath the car, but he never did have his helmet after that. (But he looked so darn cute.....)

Thanks for keeping this active, Slackersmom!

Bump

reply

Episode 2.1 Problem, they forget the antenna that drops off the truck as it drove away, and then they couldn't communicate with Rampart. This was that episode where Roy had doubts about continuing as a paramedic after a doctor criticized him.

reply

Bumping this thread. Don't want to loose it.

Schatzie you are deeply missed and will never be forgotten. We love you Sweetie B:8/7/05 - D:8/6/16. ๎Œ

In the episode where there was a huge fire (not "Brushfire") and they had to save the man trapped under a bulldozer or something--they all climbed a rope up a cliff to escape and left the drug box sitting near where they treated the injured man! The last guy up could have tied the drug box to the rope, pulled it up and saved both items, but noooooo (although granted they were escaping a fire, but still). Leaving the Jaws in the water really bothered me! Those things cost THOUSANDS! Hopefully it was the paramedics' job to rescue the victim and someone else's to get the equipment.
