Screen shots - Season 2

Starting a new one for a new season. Season 1 was short, so this thread is going to be quite a bit longer than the other one. Is that good or bad? You decide! :)

reply

Not sure about Mike, but I'm pretty sure Johnny isn't reading a firefighting-related magazine.

On the plus side, it doesn't look like Playboy...

Pretty serious. As in pretty... and serious. (Guess who???)

More of the serious.

Doctors at work. (And one at extreme rest.)

What I couldn't figure out was, how were they reading his EKG; I don't see any 'patches' or electrodes on him.

The third entry in today's Serious Trio. Serious and sad.

Do I really need to explain this one??

(Altho really, do you need to lift your shirt that high to do that? If not, you should.) ;)

Interesting view of Roy entering the locker room from the dorm.

I figure the "mystery door" is on his left, our right, of his present position.

Hey, that's Stoker's job!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Mf9ke3x8R9SERxWnNtdzhLWVk/view?usp= sharing
Interesting because almost the exact shot of Stoker is going to be added to stock footage at some point.

Our guys. Through thick and thin, good and bad, in sickness and in health--oh, wait....
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Mf9ke3x8R9Sk41N3JtbDRnY2c/view?usp= sharing
Sorry, I didn't get a pic of the obvious raggy stuffed animal that played the part of the dog, lol.

P.S., is it just me and my stuff? Looks like Google drive changed the way to do pictures again.

reply

Lovely caps as usual slackersmom!

Re: the doctors picture, I'm pretty sure they can read the EKG just by placing the paddles on the chest. John and Roy seem to be able to read them the same way, and I think they only need the leads when they want to transmit to the hospital and have it come through on the ticker tape. As long as the paddles are connected to the datascope, they can read the rhythms by placing the paddles on the chest.

If I'm wrong, someone can enlighten all of us :-)

#6, oh absolutely! ;-)
#8, was this other engineer working the dials on engine 51? Get your hands off, lol.

Yeah, Google drive seems to be working strangely.
Even when I'm not on Google drive, my computer keeps flashing a popup telling me I need to log in to it. When I go and check, I'm already logged in. Grrr.....But at least I can save your pictures again, when I couldn't a couple of weeks ago. I kept getting messages telling me things to the effect of I didn't have authorization or the picture had been viewed too many times.

WTH was up with that, lol.

You're right,I've seen Roy & Johnny check the heart with the paddles, and then attach the patches & send strip to Rampart. But in this scene, the doctor's chest was totally bare--no patches, no paddles, no nothing. And yet the scope was registering his heart and Brackett was reading his EKG off the strip. Then we see the scope register fibrillation (or whatever) and that's when they get the paddles out. So I guess E! magic stretches to machines working by magic. :D

And no, I don't think that engineer was working on 51's engine... it was just one of the other engines at the scene.

You're totally right on the E! magic :-)
I haven't watched season 1 & 2 in awhile now, and was going strictly off of your photo, where it looked like Brackett already had the paddles in hand.

Yes, another real life FF makes sense, since we know they used off duty FFs all of the time. I wasn't sure whether it actually showed that the engineer was at E51 or another engine.

LOL at the guy in the window! That could be creepy under other given circumstances, haha.
And there wasn't much reason to notice him initially, with that hunk of guy at the mirror ;-)

reply

Yeah, in the photo, Brackett had paddles in hand because he had just picked them up and was about to defib the guy. Sunderland had been doing chest compressions and was just moving back to 'clear'so Brackett could zap him. I had to wait for that moment to see the guy's chest clearly.

reply

Great job slackersmom!!

re: the doctors reading the EKG; didn't Dixie put something on the sick doctor's wrists. Could that be why they were able to read his heartbeat?

Also, FF Price, who is doing Stoker's job was a real LA County FF.

There was a huge blooper in this episode. When DeSoto goes to the sink at night, you can see a guy through the glass at the door by the pumper.

reply

LOL, you're right!! Either station 51 is haunted, or the whole scene was filmed at the real station 127, and that's one of the real FFs who happened to be peeking where he shouldn't have been. And yeah, it's not haunted, so it has to be the other thing.

See for yourself.

Those are great Slackersmom. I really like the one of distressed Johnny. Here are a few shots I took from this episode. It's one of my favorites, but then any episode that is Roy-centric is my favorite. I'm a Roy girl, who loves Johnny only a tiny bit less.

You're welcome, emergencyfangirl! I like his hair best blond, but yeah, bring on the freckles!

reply

I was surprised that Dixie got so emotional, she's usually so calm and collected! I was glad she did though, because I really think it gave that doctor a chance to think about his actions. Leave it to her to go to bat for our guys! I remember how stubborn Brackett was in the pilot movie, but he was nothing compared to this guy! Chewing out Roy like that! Good Grief!

reply

I'm glad she did too. What happened wasn't Roy's fault. The antenna breaking off the ambulance was out of his control. I also loved Brackett's pep talk and Johnny's unwavering support.

Schatzie you are deeply missed and will never be forgotten. We love you Sweetie B:8/7/05 - D:8/6/16.

I got a mish-mash of a lot of stuff in this one. I wonder which will be anyone's favorites?? 😉

Once again, slackersmom, great pics!

Ok, you asked, my favs are #1 and #4. I'd probably buy anything from him, even the soliloquy. And speaking of THAT pic, I just love Roy's body language in that scene. He did such a good job of showing exasperation without even saying a word.

reply

I love #3 - the outfits/colors of the 1970's!!

reply

They're an eyeful, aren't they?? LOL If you love those outfits, check out the pics from The Bash (when J & R went to the Hollywood 'bash' and saw all those crazy outfits). I think those are in the original "Screen shots" thread. There's also one in Prestidigitation, I think... in Screen Shots Part Deux.

In fact, I think Johnny's been training for the fireman's Olympics again. He's got a couple events down pat: vault, and handstands.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Mf9ke3x8R9SVZvei1pdmw3dEk/view?usp=sharing

* That shirt on the right looks like it should be made of flannel, lol.
** What's that dart brown on Brackett's breast pocket? It looks like a strip of velcro.

reply

These were great slackersmom. Sorry I'm a few days behind. I like the Brackett attire of course.

I also like the Johnny in Olympic training ones. Also to add to that is him jumping the train cars from a few episodes ago!

reply

I hated the parents in this episode! That mother, you could tell she was lying, because she wouldn't even look Brackett or Early in the eye! She just backed her husband up, saying that her son's injuries were accidents. I know she was scared too, but it took her son's nearly dying for her to decide to tell the truth! I was hoping for a final showdown, and the jerk of a husband would be arrested and dragged off to jail right from the hospital! No such luck!

reply

What I found strange--and unrealistic--was that in the court hearing, the county attorney (or whatever her role was) didn't ask Frankie any questions when he was on the stand. In real life, that would have happened.

Yeah, I agree, it would have been very satisfying to see the spineless husband hauled off in handcuffs. Better yet, to have Brackett 'haul off' and deck him.  Or even Dixie. 

reply

Yeah, I really hated the court hearing! Like the judge was just going to take a scared kid's word for it that he wasn't being hurt! Anybody could tell that he was scared by the way he hesitated in answering the one question they asked him! If the judge had talked to Frankie privately in his chambers without his parents staring him right in the face, maybe he would have gotten somewhere!

Altho the guy probably didn't feel it as he said he couldn't feel much from the waist down.

I got this one because you'll note the drug box in the bottom right of the pic.

No... but also yes. The scene was of Johnny's reflection in the mirror he was cleaning, so it looks like his hair is parted on the opposite side. :D

Thanks, Slackermom for great screen shots again! I kind of like the Brackett
disheveled thing too:). I'm finding the manscara and fake glycerin sweat a bit distracting...

I must say if you gotta have a virus, Koki would be the one, with the exception of the unfortunate Tim Duntley. You'd think with a fever of 105 the patients might suffer a convulsion or two, but no, the worst of it is a dewy sheen of perspiration, though not to the extent of soaking one's clothing or say, negligee. Vomiting is minimal and always off-camera.

Really the only thing better than having the virus is already having had it, which earns the prize of an all-expense paid vacation to Rampart. Woo hoo!

BTW, that guy behind him... looks like he's wearing a Star Trek uniform. Original series.

Haha yes he does! I got my family Star Trek TOS jammies for Christmas last year and they look just like that.

My reaction exactly! I do appreciate us being spared what must have been lots of barfing. Koki can make you sweat, but your eye makeup will remain fresh. And you recover as easily as if you'd had your tonsils out.

Johnny's hot & bothered.. but not in a good way. He recognizes the gravity of the situation.

A) In this scene (and in this pic), it looked like Randy maybe made some comment to Kevin, something that wasn't in the script.
B) Do snorkels usually have ladders on them, like this one does? I'm not sure I recall seeing that before.

You can see how they care for their patient (victim).

Altho I don't know why they made a big deal about her asking Roy to go with her on the chopper... one of them had to go anyway, since they'd given her IVs.

Slackersmom, thanks so much for your screen shots. Even though I don't always comment on them, I love viewing them each day. I know it takes time and effort so didn't want you to think no one is appreciating them. And I know others out there feel the same way.

I love the "voice of authority" and "Johnny hot and bothered". Just sayin

Dr. B's ensembles have been lookin' pretty good, comparatively speaking. This must have been before the wardrobe person had a breakdown and lost all sense of style and taste.

Loved all those as usual. Your captions are so funny. I especially like, "What am I supposed to do with this?" hahahahaha

I also like the cute John and cute Roy pics and also the, "Cap at the drilling station and what is that hanging on the wall of the shack?" Good point. What is that?

reply

That thing on the wall of the shack is basically a stokes stretcher. There were a couple of them hanging around that pier or drilling platform. Must be a dangerous place to work if they have 2-3 of their own stokes hanging around. 

(Fun fact: Apparently the Stokes is designed to allow it to be disassembled for easy transport when its 'normal' shape is too large or unwieldly. (Luckily it fits in the squad 'as is,' so this isn't an issue on the show.) Also, it apparently has a habit of spinning quite a bit in the downdraft of helicopter blades, which is why it's always tied off and held as steady as possible when the stokes is being lifted by a chopper or crane or snorkel.) (This info comes from the great Wiki.)

Note that Marco is still wearing his uniform hat from roll call. And we don't often see that map on the left. I wonder if this was filmed at the real station 127?

Time out for this call was 11:40. The clock in Cap's office is correct, but this one in the background behind Johnny... not so much.

You can tell the lighting in this scene is set to shine on their torsos... their lower bodies and the floor not as well-lit. You can see their shadows from the set lights.

Just like he did in Decision (Problem), Roy once again turns his back in a moment of intensity.

reply

Stupid question - how do you get the screenshots uploaded to google drive?

reply

Not sure I can help, but if you already have a Google Drive account set up (or One Drive, or whatever) I think all you'd have to do would be to save the screenshot to the drive. (I paste my screenshots into Paint and from there save to Google Drive.)

Once the pic is in the drive, I go to the pic in the directory, right-click it, click on Google Drive --> Share --> then change "can edit" to "can view," and then get shareable link which can be copied/pasted into the thread.

Does that answer your question? Not sure I explained it clearly.

reply

I figured out my problem. I assumed that Google Drive was part of Google+ but it is separate. Thanks.

reply

Just checking on whether I figured this screenshot thingie out. I don't remember exactly what episode this is from, something second season. It's stock footage of the squad and am ambulance racing toward Rampart past an orange car with both passenger side doors open. Very noticeable when it is reused.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6nIBBkmvHNjUEpGSVRqeENua0U/view?usp= sharing

reply

Yep, it worked.  And yes, that is a well-used stock shot. I have a theory that maybe the camera guys were in that car and left the car doors open while they set up their shot. (Yeah, not a very plausible theory, but it does fit the facts of why two doors would be open and nobody in sight.)

reply

Why does Brackett take off his doctor coat when he's going to do some major procedure? You'd think that would be the time to really keep the coat on in case something (like blood) sprays or drips on him. And then he wouldn't have to tuck his tie into his shirt like he normally does. I guess maybe so he can move around better?
